FFEQ is thrilled to welcome Susan Brown as our March speaker! Known as the "Cutting Corners Quilt Queen," Susan has revolutionized quilt education with her innovative techniques. She is the founder of the TQM Rulers Company, home to the popular Binding Tool Ruler, and has spent the last 15 years leading quilt education at the Missouri Star Quilt Company.

Susan’s Binding Tool Quilt Class is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to master this versatile tool. In this hands-on session, Susan will teach you how to create three stunning quilt designs: Prairie Braid/French Braid, Geese in Motion, and The Binding Tool Star.
All three quilts use the same basic principles, making it easy to learn and versatile to apply. Participants will need a jelly roll and background fabrics to complete each project. Susan will provide you with the pattern as well as a free Binding Tool when you take her class. See the attachment for more information.

We’re excited to welcome Mx Domestic to FFEQ on Monday, April 7th! Recently featured in Quilt Folk Magazine, Mathew will teach a daytime weaving class and deliver an evening lecture.
Daytime Weaving Class
Time: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Class Fee: $45 non-members

In this hands-on class, Mathew will guide participants through the art of weaving, using their unique techniques to create textured and vibrant projects.

Triaxial Fabric Weaving Class Description: The tumbling blocks weave is a perfect weave to learn first when wanting to take on triaxial design. By using three unique fabrics, one per layer, it allows for the best visualization of how to weave each layer to create this ubiquitous pattern. And once the blocks start forming in the third layer, you’ll be hooked for life and ready to take on your next weave.
There will be a few sewing machines on hand if needed.
● Fabric for weaving: ½ yard each of 3 fabrics
● 20” x 20” piece of medium weight woven fusible interfacing
● 20” x 30” foam board
● Pins, pins, and more pins
● Sharpie marker
Prep Work: Students should prepare their strips before the class begins so that we can focus on weaving during our time together. Each half yard of fabric should be cut into nine 2” x WOF strips. The raw edges should be folded toward the center lengthwise and pressed with starch to ensure crispy folds. My favorite way to transport prepared strips is to wrap them around a piece of cardboard or foam board while pinning the ends of the strips to keep them in place. I will provide students with a PDF copy of the pattern and a link to a prep video.
